What We Learned From GSU Asst Dir of Admissions Mr. Andra Brantley's Presentation

In Case You Missed It.....

On December 1, 2015, The McEachern Academic Council for Excellence hosted

Mr Andra Brantley
Assistant Director of Admissions
Georgia State University

Here is What We Learned

  1. Major Colleges are looking for students who have the best chance to graduate
  2. College admissions are more competitive than ever
  3. Essays are good way to stand apart from the competitive field
  4. It is much better to apply to college early because financial aid goes quickly
  5. Colleges are looking at GPA, rigor of courses, leadership, teacher recommendations, test scores and grades as part of admissions
  6. Colleges look favorably on AP courses
  7. Some major colleges not longer offer remedial classes
  8. Core classes from community colleges can get help students to be better prepared for major colleges

We are looking forward to more McEachern Parents at our next meeting.
